Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health in Richmond, VA is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist II for the Operating Room under the Weekend Incentive Program. This role sets up sterile fields, passes instruments to surgeons, and assists in instrument counts during procedures, providing essential support to the surgical team.

The position requires CST/TS-C/CORST certification, a minimum of 6 months experience, and completion of a surgical technology program.

Qualifications

• Registered by the State Board of Medicine and Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or Tech in Surgery-Certified (TS-C) or CORST certification.
• Minimum of 6 months experience as a Surgical Technologist or related scrub tech position.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technology Program or a military training program or Licensed Practical Nursing Program.

Responsibilities

• Sets up sterile field and gathers supplies for surgical cases, based on knowledge of instruments and equipment.
• Passes instruments to surgeons during surgery.
• Performs count procedures per policy during surgical cases.
• Serves as a resource and preceptor to less experienced Surgical Technologists and takes call for routine and high acuity cases after orientation period.
• Learns, performs and completes assignments during the transitional duty period.

The Surgical Technologist II WIP serves as a resource and preceptor to less experienced Surgical Technologists and takes call for routine and high acuity cases after orientation period.
