Job summary

Middlebrook Surgery Center in Knoxville, TN is seeking a Certified Surgical Technician to support the operating room team. You will prepare the sterile field, pass instruments, and help maintain aseptic technique to ensure patient safety. 8/10-hour shifts available, no weekends, no holidays, no call.

This role requires CST and BLS certifications and 0–2 years OR experience. You will collaborate with RNs and surgeons, stock supplies, and contribute to infection control and efficient case

Qualifications

• Technical School graduate in Surgical Technology or Practical Nursing program required.
• 0–2 years operating room surgical technician experience required.
• CST and BLS certifications are required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares the operating room by ensuring instruments, equipment and supplies are available.
• Maintains a sterile field throughout procedures and follows aseptic technique.
• Anticipates surgeon needs and passes instruments efficiently.
• Handles instruments per policy, including cleaning and sterilization.
• Counts sponges, needles and instruments with the circulating nurse.
• Assists with patient positioning, draping and transfer under RN direction.
• Maintains physician preference cards and procedural documentation.
• Restocks supplies and prepares rooms for subsequent cases.
• Performs other duties and maintains reliable attendance.
