Job summary

Doctors Medical Center of Modesto is seeking an Operating Room Technician to join the Labor & Delivery team on a part-time, day-shift basis. The role involves assisting the RN and surgeon, performing basic patient care activities, and ensuring a safe operating room environment.

The position requires a high school diploma, OR technician training, and at least one year of acute care and OR/OB experience, with strong English communication skills. BLS certification is expected upon hire.

• Completion of formal OR Technician training program, or hospital-based OR Technician training program or military OR tech training.

Reporting to the Charge Nurse/Shift Manager of the assigned area, the Operating Room Technician performs duties under the direction of the WCC OR Supervisor/Registered Nurse (RN). Responsible for providing high quality individualized basic care activities within the scope of practice. The WCC OR Technician is an individual who has received basic education and training to qualify him/her to function in delineated areas of patient care in the Operating Room as an assistant to the RN/MD (surgeon). Consults with Clinical Manager and Department Director as necessary.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: High School diploma preferred.

Minimum Experience/Skills: Completion of formal OR Technician training program, or participation in; Hospital-based OR Technician training program or military OR tech training, minimum one-year experience in an acute care setting, one-year experience in OR/OB, ability to communicate effectively in English (verbally and in writing).

License/Certificates/Credentials

BLS, completion of formal OR tech training program or military OR tech training; 1 year Obstetric OR tech experience required

• Current BLS certification
• Required for Certified Operating Technician only: Certification from an approved Operating Room Technician certifying body. (Certified Operating Room Technician)

Physical Demands

• Frequent standing/walking.
• Lift/position up to 50 lbs.
• Push/pull up to 50 lbs of force.
• Moderate reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, manual dexterity and mobility, ability to move quickly.
