Job summary

Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center in Westwood, NJ is seeking a day-shift, full-time Surgery Certified Surgical Technician (CST) to join our operating room team. The CST will assist the surgeon in the sterile field, perform scrub duties across varied procedures, ensure sterile supplies and equipment are ready, and support the circulating RN under supervision.

Requirements include valid CST or NCC certification, BLS within 14 days of hire, and 15 hours of annual CEU; preferred

Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) or NCC.
• Annually complete 15 hours of continuing education to remain qualified to practice as a surgical technologist in the State of NJ.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Assist the surgeon in the sterile field according to AORN Standards of Practice Recommendations.
• Performs scrub duties in varied specialties/procedures.
• Ensures that the case has the necessary sterile supplies and equipment for that surgeon and procedure.
• Assists with circulating duties under direct supervision of the RN circulator assigned to the patient.
• Ensures adherence to Hospital, State, and departmental policies and procedures.

• Hackensack Meridian Pascack Valley Medical Center is a 128-bed, full-service, acute-care community hospital with a new emergency department, a state-of-the-art maternity center, a women's imaging center, and an ICU.

Preferred Job Requirements:

• High School or GED equivalent.
• Graduate of a Surgical Technologist Program.
• Minimum of one (1) year as a Certified Surgical Technologist.

Rate of pay is determined based on experience and education, and may include other pay components such as differentials and call pay based on role.
