Job summary

HCA Healthcare seeks a Certified Cardiovascular Surgical Technologist to join a skilled cardiac surgery team. You will assist in preparing the sterile field, handling instruments, and supporting the surgeon throughout procedures in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED equivalent required.
• Graduate of a surgical technologist program OR hires prior to 9/1/2009 may substitute with 1-year experience in a hospital setting as a surgical technologist.
• Post-9/1/2009, must have and maintain CST or TS-C- tech in surgery certification.

Responsibilities

• Preparing and organizing the surgical suite with instruments, equipment, and supplies for safe, efficient procedures.
• Support patients with transport, positioning, prepping, and draping while protecting comfort, privacy, and safety.
• Scrub in and assist the surgeon by providing instruments, handling specimens, and anticipating team needs.
• Monitor equipment and patient status throughout procedures and act quickly when needed.
• Maintain a sterile field, ensure thorough room turnover, and support a high-performing team culture.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and organizing the surgical suite with the right instruments, equipment, and supplies to ensure safe, efficient procedures

What qualifications you will need:

Education:

Experience:

None required (unless used in lieu of education as stated above). Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies as defined by service line, facility and department/unit which are specific to the needs of the patient population served (if applicable).

Minimum License, Certificates, or Registrations Required:

• NON-CERTIFIED: No license, certificate or registrations required for the Sterile Processing Department All other departments no license, certificate or registration required if they meet the below provision: Per Texas HB 643, surgical technologists entering practice after 09/01/2009 must have and maintain a surgical technologist certification. Individuals that performed in a surgical technologist position prior to 09/01/2009 are not required to obtain a surgical technologist certification.
• CERTIFIED: Must have and maintain ONE of the following: i. CST – Certified Surgical Technologist through the National Board for Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) (formally the Liaison Council on Certification for the Surgical 1 Methodist Healthcare System Job Description Job Title: Surgical Technologist, Lead FLSA: Non-exempt Technologist) OR ii. TS-C- Tech in Surgery, Certified through the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
