Job summary

Prime Healthcare in Riverdale, GA is seeking a Certified Surgical Technologist II (CST II) for days shifts at Southern Regional Medical Center. The CST II prepares the operating room, passes instruments, maintains sterility, and mentors junior staff during complex procedures.

This role requires experience scrubbing for major and minor surgeries across specialties, strict infection control adherence, and collaboration with the surgical team to ensure patient safety.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent or related experience.
• Graduate of an ORT training program or on the job training with a minimum of 3 years experience (surgical setting preferred).
• Experience in scrubbing minor and major procedures in generalized surgical specialties (e.g., GYN, General, Plastics).
• Experience in scrubbing in at least minor procedures in specialty areas (ortho, neuro, ENT, Uro, etc.).
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

Responsibilities

• Lead by Example - Supervise and mentor junior surgical technologists and assist with their training and development, demonstrate proper techniques, reinforce sterile procedures and share best practices.
• Manage Surgical Instruments - Count and track sponges, needles, and tools to prevent retained items, accurate counts of all items used in the procedure.
• Preoperative Preparation - Set up the operating room by sterilizing and arranging instruments, supplies and equipment while preparing patients for surgery through proper positioning and sterile draping.
• Intraoperative Support - Assist during surgery by passing instruments, maintaining a sterile field and anticipating the team’s needs.
• Postoperative Duties - Support postoperative care by applying dressings, transporting patients to recovery and restocking the operating room.
• Safety and Compliance - Follow infection control protocols and ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
• Collaboration and Communication - Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists and sterile processing staff in high-pressure situations.

• Experience in scrubbing at least minor procedures in the specialty surgical areas (i.e., ortho, neuro, ENT, Uro. Etc.).
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
