Job summary

SCA Health is hiring a Surgical Tech Certified First Assistant in a dynamic ambulatory surgical center environment in the United States. The candidate will support the operating surgeon across preoperative and intraoperative care, ensuring tissue handling safety and proper instrument use.

The role requires completing an accredited Surgical Assistant or Tech program, CSA/SA-C/CST-CFA certifications, IL licensure, and CPR certification, with at least 1 year of surgical tech experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an Accredited Surgical Assistant Program.
• Graduate from Surgical Tech Program.
• Certification as a CSA, SA-C, or CST/CFA.
• Must be licensed to practice as a Surgical Assistant in Illinois.
• CPR Certification required.
• Must have one (1) year of Surgical Tech experience.

Responsibilities

• Safely positions patients for the surgical procedure and assists with transport to and from the operative suite.
• Assists surgeon in identifying patient and staff safety hazards.
• Surgical prepping and draping of patients for the surgical procedure.
• Provides exposure of the operative site by the appropriate use of retractors.
• Manipulates equipment and instruments to enhance the visual field.
• Maintains hemostasis and assists with wound closure; uses electrocautery and other agents as directed by the surgeon.
