Job summary

Outpatient Surgery Center of Asheville is seeking a Surgical Technologist / First Assist PRN to support the operating room team under the supervision of surgeons and nurses. The role covers instrument handling, sterile prep, patient positioning, draping, and aiding the surgical team during procedures.

Candidates must graduate from an accredited surgical technologist program and be CPR certified, with 0–2 years of related clinical experience.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited surgical technologist program or technical program.
CPR certification required with 0–2 years of clinical experience in a related field.

Responsibilities

Prepares and maintains medical equipment for surgical procedures.
Sets up operating room with instruments, sterile drapes, and solutions before operations.
Tends to patient during pre-operative procedures and assists surgical team.
Assembles sterile and non-sterile equipment and ensures proper function.
Prepares patient skin, handles positioning, and transports to OR.
Assists with gowning and gloving, passes instruments, and helps count sponges and needles.
Assists with dissection, hemostasis, and closure under surgeon direction.
Operates sterilizers and diagnostic equipment; transfers patients to recovery after surgery.
