Job summary

Tyler Regional Hospital in Tyler, TX is seeking a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) for a day shift, full-time position. You will work under the surgeon to ensure a safe, efficient intraoperative environment and provide first assist capabilities in the operating room.

Ideal candidates hold an accredited Surgical Technology program graduate credential, current CST and First Assistant certifications, and a minimum of 3 years scrub experience across specialties.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
• Successful completion of an approved FA course.
• BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience scrubbing all specialties.

Responsibilities

• The CSFA functions under the direction of the surgeon during the intraoperative phase of the perioperative experience to provide a safe, efficient, and supportive environment for the surgical patient.
• Exercises critical thinking skills in all aspects of the FA role.
• Establishes and maintains a safe operative environment.
• Provides technical first assistance to the primary surgeon in the operating room.
• Partners with the physician to enhance the effectiveness of patient care.
• Actively contributes to a clean, safe, positive, and professional work and patient care environment.
• Maintain skills and knowledge through training and continuing education to provide expected standards of care.
• Act as a resource and role model for staff and students.
• Adheres to departmental policies and procedures while carrying out duties and responsibilities as identified.
• Other duties as assigned within the scope of practice.

Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology program

Current Certification in Surgical Technology
