Job summary

Community Health Network in Indianapolis, IN seeks a Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) to float to CVOR areas. You will assist in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and intraoperative tasks to help surgeons achieve optimal patient outcomes.

The role includes preoperative and postoperative duties, collaboration with the care team, and coverage across CHN facilities as needed. Requires NBSTSA CSFA certification and OR experience; associates degree or equivalent preferred.

Qualifications

  • Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) credential is required.
  • Graduation from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited Surgical Technology program OR NCCT-authorized school with GED/high school diploma; associate degree preferred.
  • Military training program graduates must provide DD214 and graduation cert if program not accredited.
  • Active OR experience: 120 surgical cases in last 4 years and 30 CE credits in last 2 years may be considered.
  • 1 year Operating Room experience preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal and nonverbal communication are required.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task with high responsibility and responsiveness.

40 hours per week (7:30-4:00), rotating night and weekend call schedule including holidays required, required to travel to other CHNw facilities

Community Heart and Vascular has an excellent opportunity available within our Heart & Vascular team located in Indianapolis, IN. The Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) will be responsible for providing aid in exposure, hemostasis, closure, and other intraoperative technical functions that help the surgeon carry out a safe operation with optimal results for the patient. Performs preoperative and postoperative duties to better facilitate proper patient care. Will collaborate with all members of the caregiver team to provide exceptional care and compassion to our patient population and the families that we serve.

Exceptional Skills and Qualifications

Certified Surgical First Assist from NBSTSA required

Graduation from a CAAHEP- or ABHES-accredited Surgical Technology program OR graduation from an NCCT-authorized school with completion of a GED or high school diploma. Associate degree preferred.

  • Graduates of a Military Training Program in Surgical Technology that is not accredited must provide a copy of a DD214 stating the base where the program was completed and a graduation certification.

Current Surgical Technologists with an associate degree or higher in another field and have completed at least 120 surgical cases within the last four years and have completed 30 continuing education credits within the last two years may also be considered.

  • 1 year of Operating Room experience preferred
  • Strong written, verbal and nonverbal interpersonal and professional communication skill are required
  • Demonstrates ability to prioritize, organize and multi-task with a high degree of responsibility, responsiveness
  • Takes direction well but also self directed and motivated
