Corewell Health’s Royal Oak Hospital is seeking a Surgical Technician or First Assistant to join a Level I trauma capable team within the 16 OR unit. You will work with multidisciplinary teams on acute and elective procedures, supported by advanced technologies and a strong commitment to patient care.

The unit is part of a nationally recognized system with Magnet designation, offering comprehensive benefits and opportunities for professional growth in orthopedics and neurosurgery.

Formación

• High school diploma required.
• Associate’s degree or equivalent preferred.
• 2 years of relevant experience; surgical assisting preferred.
• Completion of a Surgical Tech First Assistant or Certified Surgical Assistant Program required.
• Must be certified as CSA or CSFA or CST NBSTSA.
• AHA BLS required; ACLS preferred.

As a Level 1 Trauma Center, our dedicated team is expertly trained in the management of acute and urgent trauma as well as electively scheduled procedures for both the pediatric and adult populations. We set a standard of excellence in Orthopedics and Neurosurgery with access to advanced technologies including Surgical Theatre, robotic assisted, endoscopic, and minimally invasive surgeries.

It is a major academic and referral center with Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma designations. The advanced capabilities and clinical expertise within this center have earned it Magnet designation four consecutive times and has the distinct honor of housing Michigan’s first Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma Required
• Associate’s Degree or equivalent Preferred.
• Required years of relevant experience in lieu of associate’s degree may be considered
• Completion of a Surgical Tech First Assistant or Certified Surgical Assistant Program Required
• Must receive certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant Certification (CSA) through the NCCSA, or Certified Surgical First Assistant Certification (CSFA) through the NBSTSA
• Upon Hire Required
• 2 years of relevant experience; Surgical assisting experience Preferred
• Certified (CST) – AST Association of Surgical Technologist Preferred
• Certified (CST) – NBSTSA National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Preferred
• Certified (CSFA) – NBSTSA National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting Upon Hire Required
• At least one Certification from preferred list:
  • Certified (CSA) – NCCSA National Commission for the Certification of Surgical Assistants Upon Hire Required
  • Certified (SA-C) – ABSA America Board Surgical Assistant Upon Hire Required
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Upon Hire Required
• AHA ACLS Adv Cardiovascular Life Support Upon Hire Preferred
