Job summary

SpecialtyCare is seeking a Surgical Physician Assistant to serve as a First Assistant across multiple surgical specialties, including robotics. This full-time role features steady hours, competitive pay, tuition reimbursement, and a strong benefits package.

You will work closely with surgeons, perform complex techniques as directed, and participate in on-call rotations to ensure high-quality patient care. The ideal candidate holds CSA/LSA/RNFA/PA-C/NP certification, has prior surgical experience

Qualifications

• Must hold CSA/LSA/RNFA/PA-C/NP certification or licensure.
• Previous surgical experience as a First Assistant is required.
• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with surgeons.
• Team-oriented mindset and reliable transportation for multi-site work.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays; on-call within 30 minutes.

Responsibilities

• Acts as First Assistant or Second Assistant to surgeon during procedures and performs complex techniques as directed.
• Document procedures for accurate billing and patient records.
• Share on-call responsibilities with the team as directed.
• Adhere to policies and protocols; ensure orders are supervised by physicians.

Surgical Physician Assistant

As a Surgical Physician Assistant with SpecialtyCare you will act as a First Assistant to the surgeon(s) during surgical procedures and perform complex surgical techniques as needed and directed by the physician. In this role you will work in various surgical specialties.

Job Responsibilities

• Acts as First Assistant or Second Assistant to surgeon during surgical procedures i.e., holds retractors, ties off vessels and tissues, repairs incisions and lacerations, cuts and cauterizes tissues, etc., as needed and as directed for wide variety of surgical cases i.e., orthopedic, general surgery, vascular, OB/GYN, etc. Performs complex surgical techniques as needed and as directed by physician.


• All other specific tasks delegated by supervising physician in accordance to the incumbent’s knowledge and experience developed under the supervising physician


• Documents all procedures and/or services to patients on face sheets and processes face sheets in accordance with established procedures to ensure accurate billing to patient accounts


• Shares on-call responsibilities with the rest of the team as directed by team leader


• Performs all activities in accordance with established policies and protocols i.e., all orders supervised and countersigned by physician, etc.

• Previous surgical experience as a First Assistant.


• Ability to build and maintain business relationships and retain and grow the business.


• Must possess strong physician/surgeon relationship skills and team mentality.


• Reliable transportation and willingness to work at multiple locations as needed.


• Ability to communicate and work effectively with team members, hospital staff and physicians.


• Ability to work flexible hours as scheduled, including weekends and holidays, and to be on-call as scheduled. Must be able to respond to calls or pages within 30 minutes.
