You will conduct assessments, provide individual and group counseling, supervise probation activities, and collaborate with CMHC and recreation staff to promote a drug-free environment.

Qualifications

• Ability to design, develop and implement a program related to alcohol and other drugs of abuse.
• Proficient in training staff and students on signs, symptoms and early identification of substance use and alcoholism.
• Assess students’ need for inpatient/outpatient treatment and coordinate access.
• Assist students in developing social support networks and self-help groups.
• Proven ability to build trusting relationships to improve outcomes via education and motivation.

Responsibilities

• Assess students to identify those needing intervention.
• Conduct individual and group counseling for students in need of intervention.
• Assist in orientation during Career Preparation Period.
• Retest students who test positive within the 45-day probationary period.
• Provide follow-up counseling to prevent relapse.
• Provide prevention education to student employees.
• Conduct in-service training with staff and students on substance use and abuse.
• Collaborate with recreation department to promote a drug-free lifestyle.
• Recommend medical separation with reinstatement for those needing treatment.
• Act as liaison with agency resources.
• Maintain confidential reports and referrals.
• Collaborate with CMHC.
