Job summary

Passages Malibu is hiring a Certified Substance Abuse Counselor to join our clinical team in Malibu, CA. The role involves counseling individuals and groups, assessing dependency issues, and creating personalized treatment plans in a holistic, non-12-step program.

The counselor will work within a multidisciplinary team, maintain confidential records, and support discharge planning while ensuring compassionate, client-centered care at our facility.

Qualifications

• Current CADC/SUDCC/CATC certification or equivalent required.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• California driver license with clean driving record required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group chemical dependency counseling.
• Assess clients for substance abuse, dependence, and other addictive behaviors.
• Perform biopsychosocial and functional assessments for assigned clients.
• Develop and implement individualized treatment and recovery plans.
• Reassess clients throughout their stay to determine response to care and changes in condition.
• Participate in multidisciplinary team process with Clinical Director and other team members.
• Participate in treatment planning and discharge/aftercare planning as appropriate.
• Maintain timely and accurate clinical documentation.

The Substance Abuse Counselor evaluates clients’ chemical dependency, develops individualized interventions, treatment, and recovery plans, and facilitates group and individual counseling sessions within the treatment philosophies and policies of the program.
