Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HumanPerformance, Kinesiology, ExerciseScience, or related field.
  • 2+ years of full-time experience as a Strength & Conditioning Specialist in collegiate (or higher), professional, or tactical athletics.
  • NSCA CSCS or CSCCa and SCCC certification; CPR and AED certification.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial evaluations and assessments for mobility aircrew; develop IPs focused on neck and back conditioning.
  • Guide IP implementation aligned with performance objectives and injury-prevention strategies.
  • Serve as a human performance advisor to unit commanders; provide recommendations on SOPs and fitness protocols.
  • Stay current on injury prevention, strength, conditioning, and rehab techniques; update equipment and regimens as needed.
  • Maintain open communication with aircrew and leadership regarding performance, injury risks, and medical coordination.

Location: Joint Base Charleston, South Carolina

Help elite aircrews perform at their best when it matters most. The 437th Airlift Wing at Joint Base Charleston supports the nation’s rapid global airlift mission—delivering people, equipment, and capabilities wherever they are needed, often under extraordinarily demanding conditions. LMR Technical Group is hiring human-performance professionals to help aircrew members stay mentally sharp, physically durable, resilient, and mission-ready. These aircrews routinely operate in challenging environments, including extended-duration flights, low-altitude operations using night-vision goggles, and high-altitude aerial delivery missions. After hours of demanding operations, they must still have the focus, judgment, and physical capability to safely bring their aircraft home.

Job Description

Provide injury prevention and performance enhancement of musculoskeletal (MSK) conditions inmobility aircrew. The CSCS will evaluate and provide performance assessment andmaintenance to mobility aircrew personnel. Performance enhancement is intended to strengthen the MSKsystem, enhance capacity to perform physically demanding warfighting tasks, and to enhance resistanceto injury. Overall MSK strengthening and health lifestyle education is addressed as part of an overallhealth maintenance program to enhance injury resistance and maximize physical warfighting capability and capacity. Strength and conditioning focused on injury prevention will also improve overall quality oflife for mobility aircrew.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial evaluations and performance assessments for assigned mobility aircrew,developing individualized programs (IP) focused on neck and back conditioning to minimize injury risksand severity. Track progress through follow-up assessments as needed.
  • Guide the implementation of IPs, ensuring alignment with human performance objectives, injuryprevention strategies, and the aircrew's overall healthcare plan.
  • Serve as a human performance advisor to unit commanders, providing recommendations oninjury prevention, program improvements, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and fitness programprotocols.
  • Monitor and evaluate new developments in injury prevention, strength and conditioning, andrehabilitation techniques. Recommend updates to equipment, exercise regimens, and best practices toenhance program effectiveness.
  • Maintain open communication with aircrew and leadership regarding performance, injury risks,and coordination with medical personnel. Ensure aircrew members with new duty-limiting conditions arereferred to unit commanders and, when necessary, the servicing MTF.
  • Maintain a safe training environment by ensuring proper equipment usage, reporting safetyconcerns, and advising on facility layout, exercise protocols, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Document all aircrew assessments, encounters, and performance data within 3 business days andcontribute required information to the HP-MER.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to ensure a holistic approach to humanperformance optimization and injury prevention.
  • Attend all unit and Military Treatment Facility (MTF) meetings as required or as requested bythe Unit Commander or his/her designee.
  • Maintain proficiency in all prescribed exercises and techniques to provide hands-ondemonstrations and ensure proper execution by aircrew personnel.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degreein HumanPerformance,Kinesiology, ExerciseScience, or a relatedfield.
  • 2+ years of full-timeexperience as aStrength &Conditioning Specialistin collegiate (orhigher), professional,or tactical athletics;aerospace industry, testpilot/astronaut orsimilar man-machinehigh-performanceenvironment.
  • National Strength andConditioning (NSCA)Certified Strength andConditioning Specialist(CSCS) or CollegiateStrength andConditioningAssociation (CSCCa)and Strength andConditioning CoachCertified (SCCC).
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Current (or ability to obtain and maintain) Secret security clearance (T3 background investigation). Must be a U.S. citizen to obtain a Secret clearance.
