Job description

Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS)
Human Performance Optimization | Air National Guard

Train for the mission. Build resilience. Elevate aircrew performance.

LMR Technical Group is seeking a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) to join a multidisciplinary Human Performance Optimization (HPO) teamdedicated to keeping aircrew personnel healthy, resilient, and mission ready.

This is more than a traditional strength and conditioning role. You’ll apply your expertise to help aircrew prepare for the physical demands of flight, reduce injury risk, recover effectively, and perform at their highest level.

Working alongside other Human Performance professionals, you’ll develop individualized programs that combine prehabilitation, performance-focused training, and recovery strategies—all designed around the unique demands of military aviation.

Why This Role Matters

Aircrew operate in a high-stress, high-performance environment. High-G forces, vibration, turbulence, prolonged sitting, and long duty hours can contribute to neck and back pain, muscular dysfunction, fatigue, and reduced physical performance.

Your expertise will play a direct role in addressing these challenges and helping aircrew remain physically prepared for the mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design and deliver job-specific strength and conditioning programs.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff to support rehabilitation and return-to-fly efforts.
  • Participate in curriculum development and program evaluation.
  • Maintain data integrity and contribute to research.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree in Human Performance, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in S&C for college/pro sport, tactical, aerospace, or similar man-machine high performance environments.
  • NSCA CSCS or CSCCa SCCC certification
  • Current CPR and AED certification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Tier 1 Security Clearance.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future.

*This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required by this position.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
