Job summary

Tanner Health is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician for the Evening shift to process surgical instruments, including decontamination, inspection, sterilization and packaging, ensuring safety and sterility for patient use.

No prior experience is required, but certification as a Sterile Processing Technician is preferred; a 1-year SPD background can also meet requirements. On-site roles across multiple locations including Wedowee, AL, with a $5,000 sign-on bonus for external hires.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and write legibly with spelling accuracy and have good mathematical skills.
• Basic medical terminology and knowledge of the human body.
• Dependable, honest, and shows integrity in all aspects of the job.
• General computer knowledge.
• Must be certified as a sterile processing technician.
• Pleasant professional demeanor when dealing with customers and coworkers.
• Requires the ability to speak with others with pride, voice control, and confidence using correct English and well-modulated voice.
• In lieu of certification, 1 year of consecutive 12 months experience in a sterile processing department in a hospital setting or has been employed in SPD at THS for 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Handle decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and issuing of medical surgical instruments.
• Maintain accuracy in record-keeping and labeling of processed instruments.
• Demonstrate professionalism and effective communication with coworkers and customers.
• Ensure compliance with safety and sterilization protocols.
• Be available for call on weekends and holidays as required.

The Sterile Processing Department within the health care facility is responsible for the delivery of medical surgical instruments that have been properly processed by decontamination, inspection, assembly, sterilization, and issued for patient use. The Certified Sterile Processing Technician has chosen and accomplished certification in Sterile Processing.
