Job summary

AdventHealth in Hinsdale, IL is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to join on a PRN, day-weekend schedule. You will maintain sterilization records, operate equipment, and ensure instrument readiness for cases.

The role requires hands-on experience in sterile processing, knowledge of IFUs, and adherence to infection control practices. Certifications CRCST or CSPDT are required, with BLS preferred.

Qualifications

• Accredited school of Sterile Processing or Surgical Technology completed.
• 1+ year of sterile processing experience.
• Knowledge of sterilization standards and surgical instrumentation.
• CPR/BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain records of sterilization activities and inventory levels.

Job Description

• Weekends PRN as needed Days

Maintains accurate records of sterilization activities and inventory levels. Other duties as assigned. Operates sterilization equipment and inspects instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning. Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols. Corrects instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets, and/or instrument tracking systems. Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts. Performs regular quality assurance program audits of peers. Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure timely availability of sterilized instruments and equipment. Monitors and documents sterilization processes to ensure compliance with safety standards. Troubleshoots and resolves issues with sterilization equipment and processes. Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sterilization processes. Trains new staff on sterilization procedures and protocols. Ensures proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.
