Job summary

UChicago Medicine AdventHealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician to maintain records, operate sterilization equipment, and ensure instrument readiness for surgical cases in a fast-paced setting.

The role requires an accredited Sterile Processing school, 1+ year experience, and certification such as CRCST or CSPDT; BLS is preferred. Night shift with full-time schedule and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• 1+ Sterile Processing experience required.
• CRCST or CSPDT certification required.
• BLS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

Job Description

Schedule: Full-Time, 10:45am-7:15pm, rotating weekends and holidays.

Up to 3k sign on bonus

Maintains accurate records of sterilization activities and inventory levels. Other duties as assigned. Operates sterilization equipment and inspects instruments, equipment, and containers to ensure cleanliness and proper functioning. Performs decontamination of soiled instruments, sterilization containers, and equipment according to instructions for use (IFUs) and established protocols. Corrects instrument sets according to current standards, established count sheets, and/or instrument tracking systems. Maintains proper levels of inventory to ensure availability for case carts. Performs regular quality assurance program audits of peers. Collaborates with the surgical team to ensure timely availability of sterilized instruments and equipment. Monitors and documents sterilization processes to ensure compliance with safety standards. Troubleshoots and resolves issues with sterilization equipment and processes. Participates in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance sterilization processes. Trains new staff on sterilization procedures and protocols. Ensures proper handling and disposal of biohazardous materials.

Work Experience

Licenses and Certifications

• Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) [Required] OR Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) [Required]
• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]
