Qualifications

• One year experience in surgical instrument sterilization processing.
• Valid BCLS Certification upon employment.
• Certification and knowledge of AAMI and ASHCSP standards.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge related to maintenance, cleanliness, and sterilization of instruments and equipment.
• Maintain a sanitary environment for the provision of patient care.
• Demonstrate awareness of appropriate sterilization methods for different instruments.
• Demonstrate knowledge of high-level disinfection and sterilization of endoscopy equipment.
• Maintain a daily log and test efficacy of disinfecting solution with each cycle.
• Monitor and record all test loads and sterilization cycles; document deviations to OR Coordinator/Nurse Manager.
• Maintain an accurate log for equipment out for repair.
