Position Overview
Overlake Hospital is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician for its Sterile Processing Department. The position is full time, 40 hours per week, night shift (5x8). Pay range: Hourly $26.53–$41.85. Sign‑on bonuses available for new hires.
Responsibilities
- Performs decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of all reprocessed items and equipment, including full surgical instrument trays.
- Develops and maintains systems and projects under the direction of the shift supervisor.
- Performs routine tasks in the Surgical Processing Department without direct supervision.
- Assists and supports new personnel during their training period.
- Initiates and completes non‑routine tasks and projects without direct supervision.
Qualifications
Central Processing Technician
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a Surgical Processing Technician Course preferred.
- Must obtain CRSCT certification within one year of hire date.
- Preferred one year or more of demonstrated competence and experience in a comparable position at another health care institution.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.
- Basic knowledge of decontamination and sterilization procedures.
- Ability to identify and handle surgical instrumentation and assemble full surgical instrument trays, surgical power equipment, and scopes.
- Can perform all routine tasks in the Surgical Processing Department without direct supervision.
- Physically capable of standing and walking for long periods; able to lift instrument sets weighing approximately 30 pounds.
Certified Sterile Processing Technician
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Current CRCST or CBSPD certification required.
- One year of sterile processing experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, in English.
- Thorough knowledge of decontamination and sterilization procedures.
- Detailed knowledge of identification and proper handling of surgical instrumentation and assembly of full surgical instrument trays, surgical power equipment, and scopes.
- Frequent periods of walking and standing.
- Exposure to disinfectants, cleaning agents, and sterilants.
- Work performed in a clean, climate‑controlled, well‑lit environment.
