Job summary

Overlake Hospital Medical Center is seeking a Certified Sterile Processing Technician for a part-time night shift (Fri–Sun, 12-hour nights 6pm–6:30am). Pay range: hourly $26.53–$41.85.

Responsibilities include decontamination, assembly, packaging and sterilization of instruments; supporting training; and maintaining systems under supervision. Qualifications include high school diploma, Surgical Processing Technician course, CRSCT and CRCST/CBSPD certification within 1 year; ability to stand long

Qualifications

  • High school diploma and Surgical Processing Technician Course preferred.
  • Must obtain CRSCT certification within one year of hire.
  • CRCST or CBSPD certification required.
  • Experience in sterile processing in a hospital setting preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine tasks in Surgical Processing without direct supervision.

Job description

Certified Sterile Processing Technician

Pay range: Hourly $26.53 - $41.85

Position Type: Part-Time / 36 hours per week (Friday/Saturday/Sunday) 12 hour nights 6pm to 6:30am

Responsibilities
  • Technical functional tasks involved in decontamination, assembly, packaging, and sterilization of all reprocessed items and equipment, including full surgical instruments trays.
  • Developing and maintaining systems and projects under the direction of the shift supervisor.
  • Perform all routine tasks/duties in the Surgical Processing, without direct supervision.
  • Assist and support new personnel during their training period.
  • Demonstrate ability and initiative in performance of non-routine tasks/projects, without direct supervision.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Education: Completion of high school level studies and Surgical Processing Technician Course completion strongly preferred.
  • Must obtain CRSCT certification within one year of hire date.
  • Preferred one year or more demonstrated competence and experience in a comparable position in another health care institution.
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) or Certified Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) is required.
  • Must have one year of sterile processing experience in an acute care hospital setting preferred.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, in the English language.
  • Basic knowledge of the principles and theory relating to decontamination and sterilization procedures.
  • Knowledge of identification and proper handling of surgical instrumentation and assembly of full surgical instrument trays, surgical power equipment, and scopes.
  • Physically capable of standing and walking for long periods of time; ability to lift instrument sets weighing approximately 30 pounds.
  • Frequent periods of walking and standing.
  • Exposure to and contact with disinfectants, cleaning agents, and sterilants.
  • Work is performed in a clean, climate-controlled, well-lit environment.
