Job summary

HCA Healthcare's Reston Surgery Center is seeking a Certified Instrument/Sterile Processing Tech to support patient care by ensuring properly cleaned, sterilized instruments and supplies. Under RN supervision, you will contribute to the center's mission and patient safety.

The role requires at least one year of sterilization experience, a valid BCLS certification, and knowledge of AAMI/ASHCSP standards. The center offers comprehensive benefits and a collaborative team environment in Reston, VA.

Qualifications

• One year experience in surgical instrument sterilization processing.
• Valid BCLS Certification upon employment.
• Certification and knowledge of standards and recommended guidelines of AAMI and ASHCSP

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate knowledge related to maintenance, cleanliness, and sterilization of instruments and equipment
• Maintain a sanitary environment for the provision of patient care
• Demonstrates awareness of appropriate sterilization methods needed for different instruments in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions
• Demonstrate knowledge of high level disinfection and sterilization of endoscopy equipment
• Maintain a daily log, testing for efficacy of disinfecting solution with each cycle and perform biological testing
• Monitor and record all test loads and sterilization cycles while documenting any deviation from normal functioning to OR Coordinator and/or Nurse Manager
• Maintain an accurate log for equipment out for repair
