Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or GED and formal Sterile Processing Technician coursework or training.
• Experience: 1 year as a Sterile Processing Technician or Operating Technician preferred.
• Certifications: must be certified with IAHCSMM or CBSPD within 18 months; preferred: other recognized central sterile certifications.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, assemble, and sterilize surgical instrumentation and related supplies.
• Prepare and deliver case carts; replenish materials as needed.
• Collaborate with surgical teams to ensure accurate instrumentation for procedures.
• Maintain sterile processing workflows and document activities as required.

Education

Sterile Processing Technician course or field training

1 year of Sterile Processing Technician experience

IAHCSMM or CBSPD certification within 18 months

Certification from IAHCSMM or Certification Board for Central Sterile Processing (preferred)

Job Summary

The Sterile Processing Technician is responsible for task-based sterile processing activities.

Responsibilities

Responsible for activities including, but not limited to decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of surgical instrumentation including various software applications, assembly, and delivery of surgical and interventional procedure case carts, paring and replenishment of materials, and working in collaboration with surgical partners to provide accurate and complete surgical instrumentation and needed supplies.

Qualifications

Education:

Required: High school diploma or GED. Completion of a formal Sterile Processing Technician course with field training or 1 year of experience as Sterile Processing Technician or Operating Technician.

Experience:

Preferred: 1 year as sterile processing technician with completion of formal sterile processing technician course.

Certifications:

Required: Must be certified with IAHCSMM or CBSPD within 18 months.
Preferred: Current certification through internationally recognized organizations such as IAHCSMM (International Association of Healthcare Central Service Materials Management) or Certification Board for Central Sterile Processing.
