Job summary

Nicklaushealth is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician in Miami, Florida, responsible for processing reusable instruments and trays through decontamination, sterilization, storage, and distribution. The role involves assembling and monitoring instruments and supplies, ensuring compliance with safety standards.

The ideal candidate will possess a high school diploma and a current Sterile Processing Certification or equivalent education. Skills in medical terminology and computer usage are necessary.

Qualifications

• Sterile Processing Certification required or graduate from a surgical technologist accredited institution.
• High School education.

Responsibilities

• Assembles, sterilizes, records, and stores all reusable instruments, trays, and carts.
• Decontaminates all reusable instruments, trays, and carts using proper equipment.
• Evaluates all instruments, carts, and equipment for cleanliness and functioning.
• Follows AAMI, OSHA, & AORN guidelines.
• Monitors inventory and assures adequate, properly stored, and rotated supplies.
• Performs, reviews, records, and reports all tests and printouts.
• Records all instruments, trays, and carts received and dispensed.
• Responds to telephone and operating room intercom promptly.

Responsible for processing all reusable instruments and trays through decontamination process, prep and package, sterilization, storage, and distribution. Dispense all direct orders received. Prepares Case Carts, and supplies OR requests. Maintains efficient inventory of all supplies. Follows AAMI, OSHA, and AORN standards and guidelines.

Minimum Job Requirements

• Current Sterile Processing Certification required or graduate from a surgical technologist accredited institution.
• High School education.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assembles, sterilizes, records, and stores all reusable instruments, trays, and carts.
• Decontaminates all reusable instruments, trays, and carts, using proper equipment.
• Evaluates all instruments, carts, and equipment for cleanliness and proper functioning ability.
• Follows AAMI, OSHA, & AORN guidelines.
• Monitors inventory and assures that supplies are adequate, properly stored, and rotated.
• Performs, reviews, records, and reports all tests and printouts.
• Records all instruments, trays, and carts received and dispensed.
• Responds to telephone and operating room intercom promptly, clearly, and politely.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Basic knowledge and use of computer and printers and/or the ability to learn appropriate software applications.
• Certification as Sterile Processing Technician.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
