Job summary

A growing non-profit private school in Phoenix, AZ, is seeking a certified special education teacher to join its team. Ideal candidates should have a Bachelor’s degree in Special Education and experience working in a self-contained classroom. Responsibilities include assessing student needs, developing IEPs, and supporting the implementation of behavior strategies. The position is part-time and year-round, offering flexible scheduling and an opportunity for professional development.

Qualifications

• Must have 3-5 years experience in a self-contained classroom.
• Experience and training in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a plus.
• Valid IVP card, CPR, and First Aid certification required.
• ABA experience or training is a plus.
• Must lift up to 40 lbs and be able to stand for extended periods.
• Attend and maintain Safety Care certification (training provided).
• Valid and reliable driver's license and transportation.
• Punctual, optimistic and solutions-based thinker.
• Creative, excellent interpersonal skills and positive under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Assess needs and develop IEPs for students.
• Teach individuals and groups using ABA strategies.
• Communicate effectively with parents and team members.
• Collect and analyze data with team members and BCBA.
• Support the implementation of behavior strategies under the direction of the BCBA.
• Incorporate ABA strategies across curriculum including academics and life skills.
• Communicate with parents in a positive and empathetic manner.
• Teach individuals and groups across various sizes.
• Maintain documentation and student records.
• Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
• Support fellow team members in a respectful and positive manner.
• Attend weekly team meetings and collaborate with consulting professionals.
• Participate in Beyond Autism trainings and adhere to policies in handbook.

Approved through the Department of Education, our comprehensive program is seeking a certified special education teacher to join our team full of compassionate and knowledgeable professionals. Our functional track ensures the skills we are teaching reach outside of the classroom to have the biggest impact on our students and their families' lives. Education/Requirements
