Job description

Customer Experience

Engages customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services. Resolves customer issues and answers questions to ensure a positive customer experience.

Models and shares customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience, including interpersonal habits (e.g., greeting, eye contact, courtesy, etc.) and Walgreens service traits (e.g., offering help proactively, identifying needs, servicing until satisfied, etc.).

Develops strong relationships with most valuable customers.

Operations

Under the supervision of the pharmacist, assists in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy. Reviews and complies with the Walgreens Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.

Performs duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist, and Store Manager including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring information is entered correctly, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions. Assists pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.

Reports prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adheres to company policies and procedures related to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.

Strictly adheres to Walgreens' policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during all applicable prescription dispensing activities.

Responsible for registering all related sales on the assigned cash register, collecting and handling cash as required. Assists customers in locating products in the OTC aisle when possible.

Handles telephone calls that do not require the pharmacist's personal attention, including calls to physicians.

Processes manual claims for third-party prescription services in a timely manner and performs other clerical duties as assigned.

Leads pharmacy inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments of pharmaceuticals. Maintains knowledge of asset protection techniques and files claims for overages, shortages, order errors, or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.

Assists and supports the Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in analyzing and improving pharmacy financial, customer service, and inventory performance data; reviews Rx KPIs with the Store Manager and Healthcare Supervisor.

May assist pharmacists in administering clinical services including collecting and labeling blood/urine samples and coordinating clinical services, Walgreens healthcare clinics, and external providers.

Supports the execution of the Pickup program.

Ensures the pharmacy area is stocked, clean, neat, and orderly, and assists with exterior and interior maintenance.

Coaches pharmacy technicians and cashiers in process and tool usage to improve efficiency.

Complies with all company policies and maintains respectful relationships with coworkers.

Completes special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Training & Personal Development

Maintains PTCB or ExCPT certification and completes required training and continuing education credits. Keeps updated on healthcare and pharmacy news and developments.

Basic Qualifications

• PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico).
• One year of pharmacy technician experience in retail or hospital setting.
• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
• Willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience with Walgreens preferred.
• Basic math skills (counting, measuring, weighing medications) preferred.
• Basic PC skills (starting/shutting down computers, using mouse, switching programs, saving files, printing, online access) preferred.
• Knowledge of store inventory control preferred.
