Job summary

Houston Methodist seeks a Senior Medical Assistant Certified to provide expert clinical support under physician and/or RN supervision, performing advanced MA tasks, assisting with exams and procedures, and ensuring compliance with CLIA, HIPAA and NCQA standards.

The Sr. MA may train others, schedule appointments, verify eligibility, and act as a clinical resource and preceptor for Medical Assistants within the department.

Qualifications

• Five years medical assistant experience with highly complex, chronic disease management or in a specialty discipline.
• Strong knowledge of medical assistant duties under physician or nurse supervision.
• BLS certification required; CPT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient examinations, procedures, diagnostic studies, and dressing changes.
• Schedule patient appointments and verify eligibility for care.
• Serve as preceptor and clinical resource to other Medical Assistants.
• Maintain compliance with CLIA, HIPAA, NCQA and government standards.
