JOB PURPOSE:
To provide professional support for designing and implementing effective science instruction that will enhance learning opportunities for all students.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Help students master challenging standards and meet all state and local requirements for achievement in Science.
- Teach diligently and conscientiously, using prescribed materials and methods, including technology-based instruction.
- Keep records and prepare and submit reports required by law, the school board, and/or the principal/administrator.
- Maintain a valid Florida educator’s certificate as required by law and state board of education regulations.
- Perform duties necessary for the diligent and conscientious instruction of students.
- Use prescribed and appropriate materials and methods.
- Conform to all laws and all school board, school, and division policies and procedures.
- Use of the district adopted science series and supplemental materials.
- Match science instructional materials to learner needs.
- Use technology as a tool to enhance science curriculum.
- Work with targeted students to motivate and accelerate learning.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Science Education, or related content; Master’s Degree preferred.
- Hold or be eligible to hold a valid Florida Educator’s Certificate.
- Current advanced training or experience with identified “best practices” in science education.
- Three (3) years successful teaching experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation and teaching skills to effectively communicate with all stakeholders and to enhance collaborative decision-making.
- Strong organization, planning, management, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to implement identified “best practices” in science education.
- Ability to use data to plan for science instruction and intervention.
- Ability to implement accelerated learning in science for low achieving students.
- Effective teaching practices, use of adaptive technology, and classroom management skills.
- Ability to communicate with school-based and district staff on professional and specific areas of exceptional student education.
- Ability to work harmoniously and cooperatively with staff and the school community.
- Leadership skills as a member of the instructional team.
- Ability to use manipulatives and technology tools.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Principal.
