Position Overview

• Provide or delegate professional nursing services, first aid, and emergency care
• Identify health concerns, make referrals, and follow up on student health needs
• Participate in IEP/504 planning and provide health-related services for students with disabilities
• Support home bound students requiring health services
• Assist during school crises (e.g., death, trauma, suicide)
• Initiate and participate in health education for students and staff
• Support students with special needs in adjusting to physical and emotional challenges
• Provide individual and group health counseling
• Develop and manage medication administration protocols
• Ensure compliance with communicable disease guidelines
• Conduct mandated health screenings and follow-ups (vision, hearing, etc.)
• Collaborate on IEP development, health-related goals, and educational accommodations
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution
• Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license
• Professional Educator License (PEL) endorsed as a School Nurse (formerly Type 73)
• Current CPR Certification
• School Based experience required
• Experience working with diverse student populations
