Summary
Under direction of a Physician Anesthesiologist the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) administers any number of agents in order to provide anesthesia for a variety of procedures.

Under direction of a Physician Anesthesiologist the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) administers any number of agents in order to provide anesthesia for a variety of procedures.
During the administration of anesthesia the CRNA continuously monitors the patient and provides appropriate care under a care team model.
Patients are continuously monitored until they are stable and care has been transferred to the PACU.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a physician anesthesiologist administers monitors and manages patient's care during and immediately after anesthesia.
Assess the patient's medical history and how it might affect the patient's response to anesthesia.
Provide anesthesia as appropriate for the procedure.
Monitor the patient's response during and immediately after anesthesia.
Initiate emergency measures as needed.
Keep detailed records.
Assist in the resuscitation of critically ill or severely traumatized patients.
Keep knowledgeable about new drugs and techniques as they become available.
Other Information
BASIC KNOWLEDGE:
A master's degree from a Nurse Anesthetist Program Program must be accredited by the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists (AANA) council on accreditation of nurse anesthesia programs or its predecessors or successors and which has its objective preparation of nurses to practice Nurse Anesthesia.
Certification and recertification as applicable required by the AANA council on certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
Maintain current license as professional registered nurse in the State of Rhode Island .
Work Environment And Physical Requirements
CRNAs are on their feet for long periods of time.
Fine finger movements walking and occasional running is required.
There is limited twisting/bending/stooping and reaching above shoulder level.
Must be able to push/pull including but not limited to all varieties of beds (stretchers gurneys) and incumbent pumps/IV setups/monitoring devices for patients across all spectrum of body habitus.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and up to 20 pounds frequently.
