Job summary

UnityPoint Health - Allen Hospital in Waterloo, IA is seeking a Certified Respiratory Therapist to deliver expert respiratory care across inpatient and outpatient settings, from neonates to adults. This full-time role features 36 hours per week on rotating 12-hour shifts, with a $20,000 sign-on bonus paid over 3 years and a comprehensive

Qualifications

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited program is required.
• Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory Care program is required.
• Must have current licensure in good standing to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner in State(s) of Practice.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate respiratory status through physical assessment and diagnostic testing (ABGs, PFTs, pulse oximetry).
• Administer respiratory therapies including gas delivery, nebulization, chest physiotherapy, airway management, and ventilation for neonatal to adult patients.
• Monitor patient responses, adjust therapy, manage artificial airways, and troubleshoot equipment to ensure safe care.
• Participate in emergency response teams, assist with internal transports, and document in EMR.
• Set up, maintain, clean, and troubleshoot respiratory equipment; promote safety and infection control.
• Serve as a preceptor for students and new staff; participate in quality improvement and patient safety committees.
