Minimum Qualifications
Certifications as a Registered Nurse Practitioner by the State Board of Nursing in one of the following specialties: Adult Care, Emergency Care, Family Care, Gerontology, or Primary Care.

Position Purpose
The Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) at Clarks Summit State Hospital provides independent advanced nursing care, including managing physical health issues and coordinating healthcare for psychiatric in-patients. Responsibilities include health assessment, diagnosis, care planning, treatment, and evaluation, under supervision of collaborating physicians and the Medical Director. The role ensures quality care for adult and geriatric patients, involving clinical and administrative management.

Description of Duties

  • Perform age-appropriate history and physical exams for complex psychiatric in-patients.
  • Evaluate patients comprehensively, considering medical history, social, developmental, and environmental factors.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and implement non-pharmacologic treatments.
  • Monitor patient progress and participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care planning.
  • Document patient care monthly, facilitate patient transitions, and respond to emergencies.
  • Collaborate with physicians and staff, attend staff meetings, and ensure compliance with licensure and certification requirements.

Decision Making
Clinical management under supervision of physicians; administrative duties under Medical Director.

Requirements Profile

  • Valid PA RN license with CRNP certification
  • Prescriptive Authority and DEA registration
  • Current CPR certification

Essential Functions

  • Proficient in Word and Excel, organized, and eligible for hospital privileges.
  • Knowledge of medicine, psychiatric diagnoses, and treatments.
  • Effective communication, ability to work under pressure, and crisis management skills.
  • Maintain Crisis Response/Intervention and CPR certifications.
