Position Description:

Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist

The Medical College of Wisconsin is seeking a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) to join its Adult Anesthesiology Division. The successful candidate must provide high-quality anesthesia care to a complex patient population, working directly under the supervision of our Adult Anesthesiologists and as part of a dedicated team of CAAs and certified nurse anesthetists.

Responsibilities:

• Administer general and local anesthesia
• Maintain anesthesia delivery systems and monitors, including testing and calibration
• Prepare patients to be effectively monitored
• Monitor patients under anesthesia
• Make recommendations regarding anesthetic care plans
• Perform post-procedure tests to ensure patients are recovering well
• Operate anesthesia equipment to monitor patients during anesthesia care
• Provide direct patient care before, during, and after anesthesia to ensure continuity and quality
• Obtain patient medical histories, conduct physical exams, and pre-procedure interviews

Additional Responsibilities:

• Review patient medical histories for accuracy with patients/families
• Administer or order diagnostic and laboratory tests
• Collaborate with Anesthesiologists on procedure prep
• Employ CPR or emergency procedures as needed
• Handle administrative duties such as medical record collection and patient follow-up
