Position: CRNA at UPMC Altoona

University of Pittsburgh Physicians, Anesthesiology Department at UPMC Altoona is hiring CRNAs for this site in Altoona, PA. 8 and 10-hour shifts available. The team covers 13 operating rooms with various off-site locations including post-anesthesia care unit, pre-anesthesia holding room, critical care units, emergency department, GI/endo suites, obstetrics (OB) (two operating rooms), electrophysiology (EP), bronchoscopy and catheterization labs, interventional radiology and Neurointerventional labs, MRI/CT, and the six-room on-campus Surgery Center. The department also provides echocardiographic support to the expanding structural heart program, including PFO closures, Watchman devices, and TAVRs. Purpose:

The CRNA provides anesthetic care for all patient types in cooperation with supervising or medically directing physicians, adhering to the Department of Anesthesiology standards and hospital policies. Responsibilities include administering anesthesia, monitoring patient reactions, and informing anesthesiologists of adverse conditions.

Responsibilities:
  1. Manage controlled substances per policies and legal guidelines.
  2. Administer anesthesia across four categories: pre-anesthetic prep, induction, maintenance, emergence, post-anesthesia care, and peri-anesthesia support.
  3. Assist in teaching and evaluating new CRNAs, GRNAs, and SRNAs.
  4. Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and standards, including documentation and surgical site verification.
  5. Participate in Quality Improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:

Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia program. Knowledge of controlled substance policies. Master’s degree preferred.

Licensure and Certifications:
  • Current RN license in Pennsylvania.
  • Board Certified or eligible by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists.
  • CPR, ACLS/PALS certifications as required.
  • Other clearances as specified.

Compliance with UPMC’s COVID vaccination policy is required.
