Job summary

Peerstar LLC is hiring a Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS) to help individuals with mental health and substance use recovery. The role focuses on empowering clients to set personal recovery goals and increase independence within the community, drawing on lived experience.

The CRS will work in Pennsylvania, coordinating with community resources and providing advocacy and support to promote wellness and self-determination.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18+ years old.
  • Self-identify as having a Substance Use Disorder.
  • Have at least 18 months of personal, lived recovery experience.
  • In the last 36 months have at least 12 months of employment or volunteer work.
  • PA-approved Vendor CRS Certificate (if already certified)
  • Completed a certified recovery specialist training curriculum approved by PA
  • Completion of the 78 hour Recovery Specialist certification training (PA Certification Board)
  • Criminal History Clearances: Epatch, Child Abuse, FBI and Verify Comply
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required; fluent in both languages (verbal and written)

  • Provide 1:1 peer support in community settings.
  • Assist individuals in setting and attaining recovery goals.
  • Promote empowerment and self-determination.
  • Advocate for clients to access community resources and services.
  • Build trusting relationships using lived experience.

Summary

Peerstar is currently hiring fora Certified Recovery Specialist. Recovery Specialists work with individuals struggling with mental health and/or substance. The primary function of a recovery specialist is to assist individuals in setting and obtaining personal recovery-oriented goals. Recovery specialists also support individuals in becoming more independent and take a more active role in the community.

Qualifications
  • Eighteen (18) years of age and older.
  • Self-Identify as having a Substance Use Disorder
  • Have at least eighteen months, in a continuous manner, of personal, lived, recovery experience
  • In the last 36 months have at least 12 months of employment or volunteer work
  • High School Diploma OR GED; Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • Must Produce PA-approved Vendor CRS Certificate (if Certified already)
  • Has completed a certified recovery specialist training curriculum approved by the state of Pennsylvania
  • Completion of the 78 hour Recovery Specialist certification training approved by the Pennsylvania Certification Board
  • PCB Recovery Specialist certification OR the ability to become certified within 7 days of hire
  • Criminal History Clearances- Epatch, Child Abuse, FBI and Verify Comply
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Ability to communicate fluently in both English and Spanish in verbal and written formats.

The recovery specialist serves as a role model for recovery as someone who is a self-identifies as a person in recovery from a substance use disorder who can relate to others through their own recovery process.
