Job description

Gateway Rehab Center (GRC) has a dynamic opportunity for a Community-based Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS). THIS IS A MOBILE POSITION! The ideal candidate MUST live in Allegheny County or surrounding counties/communities to the Pittsburgh, PA region.

As a GRC CSR, you will provide support and assistance to individuals with identified Substance Use Disorder (SUD) to gain access to the resources, treatment services, and support that will help them to achieve improved quality of life and sustained recovery.

Our CRS provides mobile engagement with individuals for oversight of case management needs and initial level auditing of assigned caseload.

Responsibilities

  • Provides information and opportunities for recovering individuals to direct their own recovery and advocacy processes.
  • Establishes a relationship with patient that display dignity and respect as reflected in professional language and appropriate boundaries.
  • Teaches and supports the acquisition and utilization of skills needed to facilitate recovery.
  • Promotes knowledge of and linkage to available services, options, and choices.
  • Promotes the utilization of natural resources within the community, other agencies, and services systems. Arranges referrals to other agencies, community programs, and other resources to meet the needs of the patient and family.
  • Facilitates the development of a sense of wellness, self-worth, and identification of unique strengths.
  • Seeks on-going individual input into services content to address individual needs and goals while supporting and encouraging individual goal planning and internalization of the recovery process.
  • Documents interactions and progress in patient's electronic medical record; completes all documentation within required time frame.
  • Monitors and updates a caseload spreadsheet, ensuring auditing needs of caseload documentation are completed, accurate and up to date monthly.
  • Prepares caseload log updates and enters case consultation notes into electronic medical record monthly.
  • Participates in group supervision and individual supervision.
  • Participates in Care Coordination department meetings, other departments and agency meetings, and internal and/or external trainings to promote performance improvement
  • Attends all Gateway Rehab mandatory training and in-services

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Understanding of Culture Diversity required
  • Understanding of and/or personal experiences with addiction and recovery.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Excellent listening skills.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Experience with accessing and working in Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to interact with others in a professional setting.


Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Must have certification through the Pennsylvania Certification Board as a Certified Recover Specialist.
  • Must have experience having direct engagement with individuals in the substance use field.

Other Requirements
  • Must complete training in ethics and confidentiality related to consumers of addiction treatment services after hire.
  • Pass a PA Criminal Background Check.
  • Obtain PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprinting Clearances.
  • Pass Drug Screen.
  • TB test.
  • Must have at least 18 months in recovery from substance dependence.

Work Conditions
  • Working conditions include work in agency and community settings with occasional evening and/or weekend hours and some local travel.
  • Minimal physical demands.
  • Significant mental demands including interviewing and investigating; ability to work independently; and frequent communication and maintenance of relationships with referral sources.
