Summit BHC in Las Cruces, New Mexico is hiring a Certified Peer Support Specialist to help patients navigate treatment and recovery. The role emphasizes advocacy, engagement, and peer-to-peer guidance throughout the continuum of care.

Onsite position with a sign-on bonus and opportunities to collaborate with clinical teams, community resources, and housing support to promote stability and long‑term recovery.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Three or more years' experience working in a behavioral health setting is required.
• Two or more years' experience in an acute inpatient behavioral health setting preferred.
• Training on personal advocacy, engagement, recovery and resiliency principles, community supports/resources.
• Certification as a Peer Specialist; CPR and de-escalation training required.

Responsibilities

• Acts as a mentor to individuals to promote decision making, empowerment and engagement.
• Acts as a liaison between individuals, clinical team and community resources.
• Takes role of advocate.
• Engages individuals referred to treatment at the initial point of contact to expedite screening for the appropriate level of care.
• Provides peer support to clinically complex patients, guiding recovery and participation.
• Assists individuals in seeking and receiving services to meet social needs and housing support.
• Assists in establishing relationships with medical care providers and coordinated care.
• Serves as consultants on MAT and community support groups.
• Documents services provided regularly and communicates patient status to staff.
• Attends office trainings and supervisory sessions.
