Job summary

Phoenix House of New York is seeking a Certified Recovery Peer Advocate to support individuals in recovery within a hybrid setting across Suffolk County jails, community programs, and Phoenix House facilities. You will guide clients through admission, continuing care post-discharge, and help build coping skills while linking to benefits and supports.

The role requires CRPA certification, at least one year of peer support experience, and a high school diploma, with a compassionate, ethics-driven

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Recovery Peer Advocate Certification (CRPA) in good standing required.
  • Minimum one year experience providing peer support services required.

Responsibilities

  • Engage individuals to consider entering treatment.
  • Engage clients to attend treatment or other healthcare services.
  • Provide continuing care services post-discharge.
  • Develop treatment/recovery plans.
  • Raise awareness of existing social and other support services.
  • Model coping skills.
  • Assist with applying for benefits.
  • Accompany clients to court appearances and medical or other appointments.
  • Provide non-clinical crisis support, especially after periods of hospitalization or incarceration.
  • Link participants to formal recovery supports.
  • Educate program participants about various modes of recovery.
  • Travel training – to use public transportation independently.
  • Education and support on the use of medication-assisted treatment.
