Job summary

Ravenswood Family Health Network (RFHN) in East Palo Alto, CA, seeks a Certified Phlebotomy Technician I to perform venipuncture, prepare specimens, and support point-of-care testing across clinics.

Under general supervision, you will enter data in the EHR, maintain lab equipment, and assist with quality control, inventory, and specimen handling while providing courteous patient service in a diverse community.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Current California Phlebotomy Technician I license required.
• Current Basic Life Support certification required.
• Current California drivers’ license and ability to travel between clinics.
• Ability to perform in-house lab tests (Hb, urine dips, pregnancy testing, glucose testing).
• One year of experience in healthcare facility or lab preferred.
• Bilingual Spanish/English proficiency preferred.
• Knowledge of lab methods, safety procedures, terminology, and infection control.
• Proficiency with EHR and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Performs venous and skin punctures to obtain blood samples.
• Prepares specimens for shipping and maintains accurate records.
• Enters data into the EHR system including insurance and billing information.
• Maintains laboratory and equipment in an orderly and sanitary condition.
• Performs and records quality control testing.
• Conducts inventory and stocking of supplies and equipment.

# CERTIFIED PHLEBOTOMY TECHNICIAN I1885 Bay Rd - East Palo Alto, CA 94303## OverviewSalary Range$24.00 - $32.00 HourlyPosition TypeFull Time## Description**ORGANIZATION**The mission of Ravenswood Family Health Network (RFHN) is to improve the health of the community by providing culturally sensitive, integrated primary and preventative health care to all, regardless of ability to pay or immigration status, and collaborating with community partners to address the social determinants of health.**POSITION SUMMARY**Under general supervision, the Certified Phlebotomy Technician performs routine preparation for laboratory testing; performs venipuncture and other specified tests within their scope of practice, and prepares specimens for pick-up by Ravenswood’s contracted laboratory.**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES***To be performed in accordance with RFHN Policies and Procedures*1. Performs venous and skin punctures to obtain blood samples.2. Prepares specimens for shipping and maintains accurate records. This may include supervision of urine collection and centrifuge of blood specimens.3. Enters data into EHR system, including insurance and billing information.4. Maintains laboratory and equipment in an orderly and sanitary condition.5. Performs and records necessary quality control testing.6. Conducts inventory and stocking of supplies and equipment as needed.7. However, the final base pay will be determined upon a number of individualized factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, education and certification levels, and departmental budget.
