Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Phlebotomy certification from an accredited agency (i.e. CPT I/II licensing)
• Completion of an approved phlebotomy training course
• AHA CPR/BLS certification
• Minimum 1 year of experience as patient service technician/phlebotomist in last 3 years
• 2-3 years phlebotomist experience in acute care preferred
• Proficiency in blood collection by venipuncture and capillary techniques

Responsibilities

• Performs proper specimen collection and labeling procedures for routine and special procedures
• Performs standard laboratory techniques related to phlebotomy and specimen collection for urinalysis, 24-hour urine, toxicology, and microbiology
• Accession all specimens and ensure timely transport and distribution for processing
