  • Process specimens and create requisitions; enter results into EMR.
  • Manage lab supplies inventory and reorder as needed.
  • Assist with EKGs and prior authorizations; relay results to patients.
  • Schedule is part-time: Mondays, Thursdays, Fridays.

Mercy Community Healthcare has an opening for a part-time Certified Phlebotomy Tech/Nursing Tech in Franklin, TN. We are looking for enthusiastic people with a passion for making a difference in the lives of those we serve in our community.

We provide care to the uninsured, underinsured and insured through pediatric and adult primary care, mental and behavioral health services, and care coordination.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Works with our clinic wide multi-disciplinary teams providing targeted care management to reach the goal of providing excellent, well-rounded patient care.
  • Acquire patient vital signs including heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, weight, height, and temperature.
  • Determine necessary paperwork for appointments and proactively provide and assist patients in completing paperwork, including scoring standardized tools and entering results into the EMR.
  • Other clinical tasks such as: Scanning documentation into EMR, giving school/work excuse notes to patients, faxing paperwork to other facilities or into EMR, performing and assisting with EKG’s, performing and assisting with Prior Authorizations, calling patients with lab results, retrieving voicemails and placing them into encounters. Calling patients regarding basic encounters and labs. Accesses and utilizes care coordination and community resources to improve and support patient needs.
  • Collects lab specimens, including blood, urine, nasal swabs, throat swabs, and other required specimens ordered by providers.
  • Manages inventory of lab supplies and equipment. Ordering supplies as needed.
  • Process collected specimens and creates necessary requisitions electronically or manually to send out to local laboratories for processing and tracking the return of these results.
  • Package specimens for transport. Stores specimen sample according to required temperature, places samples in appropriate collection container/tube, accurately labels specimen, and processes specimen per process.
  • Discuss lab concerns and questions with Director of Nursing or Chief Medical Officer.
  • Perform QI and PI on equipment and processes as required. Perform proficiency testing for non-CLIA monitored devices.
  • Schedule is part-time working Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
Qualifications
  • Education: High school diploma required. Certification or registration and phlebotomist tech.
  • Experience: A minimum of 2 years of CPT experience preferred. Basic Life Support certification.
  • Required Skills/ Abilities: Above Average Verbal and written communication skills required. Above Average Interpersonal and customer service skills required. Excellent Organizational skills and attention to detail abilities required. Excellent Time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines required. Basic Analytical and problem-solving skills required. Basic Microsoft Office skills required. Basic Eclinical EMR skills desired.
