Job summary

Qualifications

• Phlebotomy experience preferred (hospital).
• High School diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of Phlebotomy Training Program or Medical Assistant programs with Phlebotomy training.
• BLS certification required (American Heart Association or Red Cross).

Responsibilities

• Answer phones and greet patients courteously.
• Collect and label specimens accurately and enter into LIS.
• Verify orders, obtain billing information and diagnosis codes.
• Enter patient/test data into computer accurately.
• Prepare samples for analysis and coordinate with technologists.
• Place samples in centrifuge when needed and handle STATs.
• Notify supervisor of any specimen discrepancies.
• Maintain records, logs and documentation.
• Assist with inventory management and restock supplies.
• Train new staff members and students.
