Pharmacy Technician Spec
JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Performslimitedpharmacyservicesanddutiesassociatedwiththestocking,preparation, labeling,dispensing and delivery of medications, including sterile admixtures (ifneeded), andprepackagedorunitdosedrugsundertheclosesupervisionofapharmacist
  • Assistsinfilling,preparinganddeliveryofmedicationstoHOPD clinics on a routine basis
  • Performsdesignatedtasksregardingpharmacyqualitycontrol,managementofpharmacy records,inventorycontrolandworkswith buyer for timely orderofHOPD drugs
  • Optimizes HOPD clinic Omnicell inventories byreviewing par-vs-usage reports on a regular basis and reviewing providerpreference card periodic updates for any new medications required forprocedures
  • Collaborates with HOPD clinic managers/overseersto ensure that clinic needs are being met and to coordinate controlledsubstance wholesaler delivery and refill at each clinic
  • Completes monthly unit inspections at all HOPDclinics
  • Completes monthly HOPD crash cartmedication/IV tray review, with replacement when used and as needed to keeptrays in date.
  • Assistsinmaintainingpharmacydrugstockbyregularlycheckingforproductsthatareoutdatedand/orlowininventorylevel
  • Assistswiththeessentialfunctionsrelatedtodrugpurchasingandinventorycontrolinan appropriatemanner(ex.Ordering/receivingofmedicationsandsupplies)
  • Managescontrolled substance transaction reconciliation at all applicable HOPDs;identifies discrepancies and notifies appropriate personnel for correctiveaction with timely follow-up
  • Resolvesdiscrepancies,troubleshoots,andrunsreportsfromtheautomateddispensing machine(ADM)
  • Monitors/checksappropriatestorageofdrugs
  • Maintainsautomateddispensingunitinventoriesat HOPDs
  • Communicatesimmediatelywithallappropriatestaffmemberswheninventorylevelsarelowand assists in resolving shortages
  • Reviews and processesrefill ordersformedicationatHOPD clinics to ensure good pharmacy service is provided.
  • Responsibleforchargesandcreditsofmedicationsrelated to HOPDs.
  • Answersphoneanddirectscallsappropriately
  • AssistinmaintenanceofQualityAssuranceIndicators
  • Supportspharmacystaffasrequested
  • Mayperform other technician duties as assigned or requested
