Pharmacy Technician Spec
JOB FUNCTIONS
- Performslimitedpharmacyservicesanddutiesassociatedwiththestocking,preparation, labeling,dispensing and delivery of medications, including sterile admixtures (ifneeded), andprepackagedorunitdosedrugsundertheclosesupervisionofapharmacist
- Assistsinfilling,preparinganddeliveryofmedicationstoHOPD clinics on a routine basis
- Performsdesignatedtasksregardingpharmacyqualitycontrol,managementofpharmacy records,inventorycontrolandworkswith buyer for timely orderofHOPD drugs
- Optimizes HOPD clinic Omnicell inventories byreviewing par-vs-usage reports on a regular basis and reviewing providerpreference card periodic updates for any new medications required forprocedures
- Collaborates with HOPD clinic managers/overseersto ensure that clinic needs are being met and to coordinate controlledsubstance wholesaler delivery and refill at each clinic
- Completes monthly unit inspections at all HOPDclinics
- Completes monthly HOPD crash cartmedication/IV tray review, with replacement when used and as needed to keeptrays in date.
- Assistsinmaintainingpharmacydrugstockbyregularlycheckingforproductsthatareoutdatedand/orlowininventorylevel
- Assistswiththeessentialfunctionsrelatedtodrugpurchasingandinventorycontrolinan appropriatemanner(ex.Ordering/receivingofmedicationsandsupplies)
- Managescontrolled substance transaction reconciliation at all applicable HOPDs;identifies discrepancies and notifies appropriate personnel for correctiveaction with timely follow-up
- Resolvesdiscrepancies,troubleshoots,andrunsreportsfromtheautomateddispensing machine(ADM)
- Monitors/checksappropriatestorageofdrugs
- Maintainsautomateddispensingunitinventoriesat HOPDs
- Communicatesimmediatelywithallappropriatestaffmemberswheninventorylevelsarelowand assists in resolving shortages
- Reviews and processesrefill ordersformedicationatHOPD clinics to ensure good pharmacy service is provided.
- Responsibleforchargesandcreditsofmedicationsrelated to HOPDs.
- Answersphoneanddirectscallsappropriately
- AssistinmaintenanceofQualityAssuranceIndicators
- Supportspharmacystaffasrequested
- Mayperform other technician duties as assigned or requested

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED Equivalent
- Prior inpatient technician experience of at least 3 years.
- Texas State Board of Pharmacy Technician Registration.
- IV Certification required through an ACPE-approved program
