Job Responsibilities
- Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, complying with state and federal regulations, company policies, and procedures.
- Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information, process prescriptions, and assist in coaching pharmacy technicians and cashiers as applicable.
- Deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience by engaging customers, resolving issues, and developing strong relationships with valuable customers.
- Assist in pharmacy operations, including entering patient and drug data, filling prescriptions, verifying accuracy, and managing workflow under supervision.
- Report prescription errors immediately and adhere to company policies regarding pharmacy errors and quality improvement.
- Handle sales transactions, assist customers in locating products, and manage telephone inquiries not requiring pharmacist intervention.
- Process third-party claims and perform clerical duties as assigned.
- Support inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, and storing pharmaceuticals, and maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques.
- Assist in administering clinical services, including sample collection and coordination with healthcare providers.
- Develop relationships with the medical community through outreach and detailing.
- Maintain the cleanliness, organization, and supply levels of the pharmacy environment.
- Comply with all policies and procedures, and complete special assignments as required.
Training & Personal Development
- Earn and maintain PTCB certification, or obtain it as a condition for promotion.
- Participate in training and continuing education to stay current with healthcare and pharmacy developments.
Basic Qualifications
- Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least six months of retail experience preferred.
- Prior experience with Walgreens preferred.
- Good math skills for accurate prescription filling.
- Proficiency in computer skills.
- Knowledge of store inventory control preferred.
- PTCB certification preferred.
