Rotating Shift – 0630‑1500, 1000‑1830, or 1430‑2300. Every 3rd weekend required.
Description:
- Position located at Mount Carmel East.
- Full‑time rotating shifts as described above.
- The Certified Pharmacy Tech will assist the pharmacist in ensuring timely and accurate provision of medications to patients. Responsibilities include unit dose dispensing, sterile compounding, non‑sterile compounding, medication packaging, inventory control, record keeping and billing, and use of equipment and automated technology under direct pharmacist supervision.
- Mount Carmel offers an elevated Certified Pharmacy Tech – Sterile Compounding compensation program for all sterile compounding trained technicians regardless of prior experience. After completing the standardized training, signed‑off technicians will be approved for elevated compensation.
What You Will Do:
- Establish a working identity with our Pharmacy Team and continue to build upon our culture.
- Preparation of sterile products (including chemotherapy) using aseptic technique, in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Preparation of non‑sterile products (including hazardous medication), in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Repackaging of bulk oral medication using our Parata Systems and Medical Packaging Inc robots.
- Facilitate medication dispensing via Automated Dispensing Cabinets on patient care units.
- Assist in dispensing orders/prescriptions through our pharmacy inventory system.
- Assist in inventory control by processing daily Pharmacy Department orders, ensuring proper stock rotation, storage, and expiry dating, and escalating medication and non‑medication orders to Purchasing Team.
- Assist the department with proper billing of patients and other units.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Education: High school graduation or equivalent.
- Licensure / Certification: Approved Pharmacy Technician Certification; active registration as a Certified Tech with Ohio State Board of Pharmacy.
- Experience: Previous pharmacy technician experience preferred.
- Effective communication skills.
- Aptitude in mathematical manipulations (ratios, proportions, multiplication, division, decimals, fractions).
- A desire to build a career, with ambition to elevate pharmacy knowledge to the extent of a Certified Pharmacy Technician Certification.
