Job Summary:

The Certified Pharmacy Technician is responsible for providing pharmacy services, including preparing pharmaceuticals, performing inventory control, compliance audits, financial transactions, customer service, and maintaining pharmacy records. The technician works as part of an interdisciplinary patient care team under the direction of the Pharmacist.

Essential Functions:
  • Receiving and verifying the accuracy and authenticity of prescriptions
  • Reviewing and recording patient information with their prescription in compliance with the guidelines of the General Pharmaceutical Council
  • Providing instructions to educate patients on the correct way to take their medication
  • Supporting the Pharmacist in daily pharmacy operations
  • Adhering to infection-control protocols to protect employees and patients
  • Performing other duties as assigned
Education:
  • High School Degree or GED
Licensure/Certification:
  • Valid ExCPT Certification from the National Health Career Association or PTCB certification, and registration with the State Board of Pharmacy
Experience:
  • Previous experience in Retail, Ambulatory, Outpatient, Hospital, Acute Care, or Home Infusion Pharmacy (preferred)
Skills & Abilities:
  • Ability to be proactive in a rapidly changing environment
  • Professional engagement with staff and patients
  • Problem-solving skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication names, and aseptic technique
