• 35 Hours Full Time, 7 on 7 off Nights
• Reports to: Pharmacy Supervisor, Manager, or Director

Primary Functions

Assist the pharmacist in processing medication orders by selecting, assembling, and preparing medications for inpatient and outpatient services. Responsibilities may vary across activities within the pharmacy.

Essential Job Functions

1. Assist in medication preparation for inpatient and outpatient services, including accepting prescriptions and verifying orders.
2. Enter and retrieve information from electronic health records and prescription systems, ensuring accurate billing.
3. Prepare labels, stock medications, count and pour drugs, and perform non-sterile compounding as per USP guidelines.
4. Stock automated dispensing cabinets, floor stock, and crash carts; transport medications as needed; operate drug dispensing technology.
5. Accept verbal refill authorizations, transfer prescriptions, and check technician work, as permitted by law.
6. Support education and training of new technicians and students, participate in quality improvement activities.
7. For outpatient: package, sell prescriptions, assist with insurance claims; for inpatient: perform sterile compounding and maintain safety standards.

Qualifications

• Certification: ExCPT or PTCB, with registration with State Board of Pharmacy
• Education: High School Diploma or GED; pharmacy tech training preferred
• Experience: Prior experience in pharmacy settings preferred
