Job summary

HealthPoint Texas is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician to assist the pharmacist in all aspects of the prescription filling process. The role emphasizes accuracy, safety, and efficient handling of medication orders in a patient-centered environment.

You will support operations, manage inventory, help with patient counseling, process prescriptions, and maintain HIPAA-compliant records while delivering courteous service.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed pharmacists with medication dispensing and order processing
• Accurately count, label, and package medications following established protocols
• Prepare and assemble prescriptions for distribution to patients
• Order, receive, price and prepare drug inventory
• Perform prescription order entry and verification using pharmacy software systems
• Conduct medication reconciliation and review for potential drug interactions
• Assist in the maintenance of medication storage and inventory control
• Greet and assist patients and customers, addressing their inquiries and concerns
• Handle phone calls, triage inquiries, and direct calls to appropriate staff members
• Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor while delivering exceptional service
• Run register and complete patient sales
• Receive and interpret written, electronic, or verbal prescriptions from healthcare providers
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to resolve prescription-related issues
• Enter and update patient information, prescription details, and billing data in the pharmacy system
• File and organize prescription hard copies, and other relevant documents
• Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information in compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local pharmacy laws, regulations, and standards
• Help monitor and maintain proper storage and handling of medications
• Support the implementation and adherence to quality control processes and safety protocols
• Communicate effectively with pharmacists, medical providers, and other healthcare professionals
• Assist in medication counseling and patient education on proper medication use and potential side effects
• Participate in interprofessional collaborations to optimize patient care and outcomes
• Stay updated with current pharmacy practices, regulations, and industry trends
• Pursue continuing education opportunities and maintain certification as required
• Seek opportunities to enhance skills, knowledge, and proficiency in pharmacy operations
