Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Certified Pharmacy Technician at Lourdes Hospital to provide pharmacy services, assist with inventory control, audits, and financial transactions while delivering excellent customer service.

The role reports to the Pharmacist and involves working as part of an interdisciplinary team in a patient-centered setting. A High School Diploma or GED and ExCPT/State Board licensure are required, with prior retail or hospital pharmacy experience preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Degree or GED required.
• Valid ExCPT certification and registration with State Board of Pharmacy required.
• Previous experience in Retail/Outpatient/Hospital pharmacy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Receiving and verifying the accuracy and authenticity of prescriptions.
• Reviewing and recording patient information with their prescription in compliance with guidelines.
• Providing instructions to educate people on the correct use of their medicines.
• Support the Pharmacist in daily pharmacy operations.
• Adhering to infection-control protocols to protect staff and patients.
• Other duties as assigned by the Pharmacist.

Essential Functions

• Receiving and verifying the accuracy and authenticity of prescriptions
• Reviewing and recording patient information with their prescription in compliance with the guidelines of the General Pharmaceutical Council
• Providing instructions to educate people on the correct way to take their medicine
• Supporting the Pharmacist in the daily operation of the pharmacy
• Protecting employees and patients by adhering to infection-control protocols and policies
• Other duties as assigned

Education

• High School Degree or GED

Licensure/Certification

• Valid ExCPT Certification provided by the National Health Career Association or Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) certification and registration with State Board of Pharmacy (required)

Experience

• Previous experience working in Retail, Ambulatory, Outpatient, Hospital, Acute Care, or Home Infusion Pharmacy (preferred)

Skills & Abilities

• Ability to be proactive in a rapidly changing environment
• Engage with staff and patients in a professional manner
• Possesses problem-solving skills with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Requires knowledge of pharmacy terminology, medication names, and aseptic technique
